A liquid-cooled, four-valve parallel twin in an aluminium frame. The engine is a stressed member of the chassis, which is how the RS 457 gets down to just 159 kg dry.

Ride-by-wire derived from Aprilia's MotoGP work runs the engine, with three riding modes and traction control you can set or switch off.
An aluminium frame and load-bearing engine keep weight down. A 41 mm upside-down fork and 17-inch sport wheels keep the bike stable but responsive.
